Yellow aventurine is a member of the quartz family, named after the word “aventura,” which means by chance. It was named so after the stone’s beautiful natural sparkle pattern. While aventurine is known to be green, other colors exist, such as yellow.
Yellow aventurine can be found in a variety of yellow hues and will get its colors from inclusions, mainly mica and/or muscovite. It’s one of the rarer aventurine varieties and will only be found crystallized in larger chunks.
Most of what you find on the market will come sourced from India.

Where is yellow aventurine found?
Yellow Aventurine is formed through metamorphic processes, where high heat and pressure change its structure over time. It is created when magma from volcanic explosions cools down and then transforms into an igneous rock. While this cooling down process happens, silica acid bubbles will shift from a gas into a solid compound. This bubble will then become a hollow space and the silica acid becomes a quartz crystal. If it has particles of iron and/or mica within this silica acid, then it will have a yellow-ish color.
It’s found in several places around the world, however, India is the predominant source as it’s known for its rich deposits.
Besides India, you can also find it in countries such as Brazil, South Africa, and the United States, among others.
It’s note that common, and when found, it’s often in large masses.

Sound: Sound therapy is another way to cleanse your stone and this can be done via singing bowls or tuning forks, for example.
Water: Rinsing your stone under water for a few minutes can cleanse your stone, as it’s said to rinse away any negative energies within. However, keep in mind that not all stones are water proof. Luckily, yellow aventurine is.
Yellow aventurine vs. citrine
Yellow aventurine is a variety of quartz, which will get its color from the inclusions of iron and will be a mellower yellow. It can also have a milky/shimmery appearance due to these inclusions. Citrine, however, will be more of a transparent quartz that ranges from a pale yellow to brown due to ferric impurities. Natural citrine is very rare, and most of what you see on the market is heat treated amethyst.
