Selenite Quick Notes
Selenite, a crystallized form of gypsum, is mostly found as a translucent, multifaceted stone. It’s the pure white light that captures your eye, as it seems as if the light is trapped inside. Many like to call it the “liquid light” because of this. When sulfate and calcium-rich saltwater evaporates, selenite is formed. It’s sold mainly as prismatic shards, towers or spheres, but like any crystals, other formations exist, too. Named after the moon by J.G. Wallerius, it was founded in the mid 1700’s. He wanted to name it after the Greek goddess of the moon as a tribute. The name still sticks to this day.
Metaphysically, selenite is said to be a powerful healing crystal that can clear your mind, creating a sense of peace and calmness. It’s also said that this crystal can help clear any negative energies in the room, even helping you connect spiritually as it can help you access your intuition. It’s been used for centuries with many considering it as one of the most powerful crystals you can have. If you feel that you’re anxious all of the time or you’re trying to overcome a troubling past, it may be able to help.
Selenite is found all around the world, such as Greece, Mexico, Japan, USA, Russia and many more.
