Pink Tourmaline Meanings and Crystal Properties

Pink tourmaline is a type of tourmaline that varies in color from light to bright hot pink, and it’s not to be mistaken for Rubellite, which is red tourmaline, even though they can be found in the same mines.  The name tourmaline stems from the Sinhalese term “turmali,” denoting “crystals of all colors.”

Naturally, it can be found in raw, transparent, and opaque forms, often alongside quartz and other tourmaline colors such as black and green, red, pink, etc.  Mainly, California is known for producing high-quality gemstones and has a history of trading them, notably with the Chinese Empress Tz’u Hsi in the late 1800s.  To this day, the Stewart mine located in San Diego, California, has historically produced beautiful specimens.

Pink tourmaline metaphysical properties

Love:  Pink tourmaline is mainly known for symbolizing love, compassion, emotional healing, and self-love.  It’s said to represent love for humanity, humanitarianism, and sympathy towards others, making it a fitting stone for counselors and healers.  Among all of the tourmaline colors, it’s said to help radiate the highest levels of love.  The meanings mainly associated with this stone will relate to love, whether it’s romantic, familial, self-love, and/or love for friends.

Soothes emotions:  It is believed to help soothe emotions during stressful times and is recommended if you’re experiencing anxiety.  As a plus, it’s considered to be a potent healing stone, especially when found near quartz masses, as quartz is said to amplify the healing properties of any stone near it.  It’s highly valued by anyone who wants to confront their fears due to the calming influence.

Meditating:  It’s said that meditating with pink tourmaline over your heart is ideal as a way to absorb the crystal’s healing energies and confront emotional issues.  Ideally, spiritualists note that you should consider pairing it with rhodochrosite, as this is said to enhance the healing effects in your heart, potentially helping with conflicts.

Better listening:  Pink tourmaline could encourage better listening, understanding, and carries the virtue of unconditional love and enduring friendships.

Protection:  Beyond its healing properties, it also acts as a protective shield, warding off negative energies.

Optimism:  The gentle and loving energy it brings may foster an optimistic outlook on life.

What does pink tourmaline mean spiritually?

The spiritual significance of this crystal is intimately tied to its properties of love, compassion, and emotional healing.  It’s said to open and balance your heart chakra, which is the energy center related to love and relationships.  It’s also recognized as a remarkable tool for clearing emotional blockages, making it a powerful ally for anyone working through emotional trauma or difficulties.

Emotional clearing: If you’re feeling emotionally blocked or stagnant, it may help clear these obstacles, allowing you to progress and grow. It assists in releasing old patterns, negative emotions, and fears that might hold you back, promoting emotional freedom and growth.

Opening the heart: Pink Tourmaline is said to have the ability to open the heart to love and compassion, as you can see. This applies not only to love for others but also crucially encompasses self-love. Its energy can foster forgiveness, understanding, and patience, enabling you to cultivate a more compassionate and loving relationship with yourself and others.

Attracting love: Another spiritual attribute is its supposed ability to draw love into your life. Whether you’re seeking romantic love, deeper friendships, or a stronger family bond, this may help you set the right intentions and potentially attract these relationships.

Pink tourmaline chakra

Pink Tourmaline connects to the heart chakra, particularly the higher heart chakra, and the throat chakra.  As a primary stone of the heart chakra, it is sometimes linked to the crown chakra, promoting love, spirituality, compassion, and gentleness.

The stone is believed to draw energy from the solar plexus to the heart, and it’s said to gently open, cleanse, calm, and illuminate the heart.  Healers even note that it may release emotions attached to an illness or injury.

The deeper the pink color appears, the more it may help and open your third eye.

Pink tourmaline birthstone

Pink tourmaline is one of the birthstones for October, symbolizing the compassionate and loving nature of those born in this month.  It was introduced in the 1950’s a “newer” more modern birthstone.  It’s said to be the alternative to opal, another birthstone for this month.

It also serves as the gemstone for an 8th wedding anniversary, symbolizing enduring romantic love.

Where can pink tourmaline be found?

Pink tourmaline can be found throughout the world such as Brazil, India, Mozambique, and the United States.

Is pink tourmaline rare?

Although tourmaline can be found worldwide, it’s the fine, high quality crystals and gems that are rare and can be expensive.  Its popularity as a gemstone began in 1876 when George Kunz sold a Green Tourmaline to Tiffany and Co and has increased in demand ever since.

Pink tourmaline isn’t all that rare, however, which often means you won’t find too many counterfeit pieces on the market.  However, if you want to be certain your gemstone is real, you will want to study the piece under artificial light to study the undertone.  If there’s a brown hue/undertone, it’s almost a certainty it’s real; however, if you don’t see this brown color, then it could be  a fake.  It’s also best to check for any natural inclusions, as most pink tourmaline will have some.  Smaller scratches and fractures should be seen, and a perfect cut is extremely uncommon and questioned.

Pink tourmaline price per carat

The price of pink tourmaline will vary on a few factors like many gemstones.  One of the main factors, however, will notably be the color.  If the gemstone possesses more than one color, for example, it can be more in demand, as this type of is often in high demand.  The same can be said about the pink, as the brighter it is, the more it can cost. In this circumstance, you could expect to pay about $300 to $550+ per carat, mainly depending on, again, the color, where you purchase it as well as the cut and quality.  It can also depend on how it’s faceted as it can go into so many jewelry pieces such as rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and even engagement rings, to name a few.
